With over 20 years of experience in the field, Greg Upwall is a licensed architect in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, and Certified Passive House Consultant. From 2004 to 2009, he taught at the Graduate School of Architecture at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and as Adjunct Faculty at The Catholic University of America, School of Architecture & Planning in Washington DC since 2010. His hobbies include urban gardening, furniture making, painting, and film making. He lives in the Logan Circle neighborhood in DC, and likes to spend free time exploring the backroads in his 1990 VW Westfalia Vanagon.

I relocated from Nicaragua to the US to pursue my Master of Architecture at CUA where I joined the Sacred and Cultural Spaces concentration. I became part of Studio Upwall in 2021, bringing my previous experience in Architecture and Interior design of commercial and residential projects. I enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors.

Having pursued most of my education in the DFW area in Texas, I bring a new perspective to Washington, DC as an emerging professional. I joined Studio Upwall in 2026 with a blend of digital design work and real-world construction experience gained from my time in a design-build studio, which allowed me to work on a built project for a Dallas neighborhood. I am applying this foundation to expand my experience in DC-specific retrofitting projects. Alongside professional work I enjoy working on small furniture design and exploring DC alongside other cities.
